MACE Center Introductory Party Chicago, January 30, 2010The Macedonian-American Cultural and Education Center introduced its mission, goals, objectives, and proposed plans to the Chicago and Northwest Indiana communities on Saturday, January 30th, 2010. Over eighty guests enjoyed Macedonian wine, food, and music in an upbeat environment where there was a common goal, uniting and engaging the Macedonian-American community. Guests were greeted by an array of Macedonian artifacts, paintings, and icons and were encouraged to network with those outside of their respective circles. The MACE Center Board of Directors spoke to the organization’s origin and the direction they would like to see it head, an eventual physical space for Macedonian-Americans in Chicago. The Board also spoke of the importance of a variety of topics affecting the diaspora and the community, like, supporting Macedonian entrepreneurs, being counted as Macedonian on the 2010 Census, compiling resources for the newly immigrated, the one hundred year history of Macedonians in the US, keeping first and second generation Macedonians tied to their roots, and of course, culture and education.
